Mountain Pony Unicorns, or Filarra* as they are
known to the Shehalians,
are graceful and beautiful sentient Unicorns. Mountain Pony refers to their most
common appearance, thick furred pony-like unicorns.
They come from a hidden valley in the middle of a circual mountain-range
known as The Vale, and live in Tribes of 2 to 20 members.
Each unicorn has an 'Element', which somehow relates to coat color
and the powers of that unicorn (i.e. an earth mare will have green
or tan coat and power over plants). (see elements info
page for more)
Mountain pony unicorns often form bonds with others not of their kind,
while some are ok with being ridden, others are not. it's all up to that
Unicorn.
They are warriors and healers in their own right, it's never a good idea to get
on one's bad side.
Mountain pony unicorns hate being locked up, and it's no use trying to keep them
in
when they don't want to be. they love valleys and mountains and like to be close
to them.
Remember, Mountain pony unicorns are sentient creatures! they are feelings too.
(*Filarra translates as 'Hooved kin' or
'Mountain keepers'
depending on which part of Shehal your in.)
-Appearance-
Mountain pony unicorns are generally built like ponies or draft horse,
but lately more and more light and thin legged builds have been seen too.
a mountain pony unicorn's fur is thick, with a rough outer coat and a
soft under coat. they shed their coats in the spring, growing it back in the
fall.
their manes and tails are long and soft like down, and often need
clipping to keep them short. The soft fur they shed and the clips from the mane
and tail
are very valuable, as they may be used to make blankets and coats and other such
things.
Their fur comes in all colors of the rainbow, and ever pattern known.
Mutations range from uncommon to rare (depending on element) and include spiral horns, wings(feathered, fey or
dragon),
lion tails, dragon tails, fangs, cloven hooves, no horn, dragon eyes, and
element themed mutations.
-Diet-
Mountain Pony Unicorns are, like most horse based animals, grazers.
but they eat berries, fruits and nuts too. they also use their horns
to dig for roots underground. Some elements (i.e. Vampire, or Draco)
even eat small animals if they can catch them.
